On Wednesday, Year 3 visited Chester Zoo as part of our science topic “Animals including humans”. We went to a workshop held by some of the Chester Zoo staff and discussed the diets and nutrition of animals. We looked at herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores (plus detritivores too!). We looked at different skulls and teeth of animals and sorted them by what food they would eat. As a group, we then worked together to make a model of a digestive system, with food passing through each stage of the system.
We then explored the zoo and looked at lots of different animals, including capybaras, sloths, bats, tigers, snow leopards, red pandas, snakes, orangutans, and many more!
