Sports Leaders and School Games Organisation Crew

This year we have selected and trained up a number of Sports Ambassadors who now operate in Year 6. These children form part of the School Games Organisation Crew by promoting the School Games values. They will also be encouraged to help with the organisation of sporting activities, encourage their peers to be healthy and active and meet with the PE coordinator to share any ideas/observations that they may have.

Lunchtimes
At Greswell, we take great pride in offering sporting opportunities for all. At lunchtime, we work closely with Sports First Coaching, who provide a variety of sporting provisions, activities and challenges. Each week, a different sporting challenge is presented to the children in the bid to compete against each other and different year groups.
Our fantastic range of equipment, alongside the expertise of our sports coaches, allow for a diverse dive into sports and encourages children to complete 30 minutes of physical exercise.
Level 1 School Games Competitions

Throughout school we run a number of inter-school competitions. These often take place in the lessons during the final week of a topic. Examples of these include gymnastic competitions in class with judges or small tag rugby games. We have also ran a large KS2 indoor athletics competition. This involves all the children being involved in a large competition at Denton Community College during school hours.

Sport First Coaching
We work closely with the coaches at Sport First Coaching, who deliver excellent provision at lunchtime, after school clubs for all year groups and school holiday sports camps.
The coaches have built fantastic relationships with the children over the last couple of years resulting in a high uptake in all of their sessions on offer.
Sports Leaders and School Games Organisation Crew

Each year we train up a number of Sports Leaders who now operate in Year 5 and 6. These children form part of the School Games Organisation Crew.

Lunchtimes - The year 6 sports leaders have been busy providing games and competitions for our KS1 children on the playground.

Many of the KS1 children enjoy playing these games and it keeps them physically active during the lunch period.

It also has a positive impact on behaviour because older children are modelling positive behaviour for these children during lunchtimes.
